Install the Aquitto Print Agent on Windows
The Print Agent is a small program that runs on the venue computer and hands Aquitto tickets to the printer you already have installed in Windows.
Before you begin
- Windows 10 or later, 64-bit.
- The thermal printer installed in Windows and already printing: a Windows test page has to come out.
- The printer connected by USB to that same computer. A printer shared from another PC over the network does not work for tickets, and every computer with a printer needs its own agent.
- An Aquitto account with access to POS, Cocina and Impresoras.
- About 25 MB of disk: the agent updates itself and keeps the previous version around in case it has to go back. No administrator rights needed.
- There is no Mac build yet.
Install and pair the agent
- Create the folder C:\Aquitto\ on the computer the printer is plugged into.
- Download aquitto-print-agent.exe and move it into that folder before you open it.
Autostart records the path you ran it from. Left in Downloads, it stops starting the day somebody empties the folder.
- Double click the file. There is no installer, nothing to choose and no administrator password.
- If the blue Windows protected your PC screen appears, click More info, then Run anyway.
Windows shows that warning for every unsigned program. The agent is not code signed yet.
- Look for the agent icon next to the Windows clock. It opens asking for a pairing code: leave that window where it is.
- Open the Aquitto dashboard and go to POS → Cocina → Impresoras. On the Agentes de impresión card, click Vincular agente.
The code is six characters, lasts ten minutes and works once. If it expires, ask for another.
- Type the code into the agent window. The dot turns green and the computer shows up in the dashboard as En línea.
Point a printer at the agent
- On that same Impresoras screen, click Nueva, or edit a printer you already have.
- Choose the type Agente local, then the agent, then the Windows print queue.
Pick a local queue on that PC. A shared queue such as \\PC3\Cocina does not print tickets.
- Click Probar. A test ticket has to come out of the thermal printer.
If the test ticket printed, you are done. The agent opens by itself whenever somebody signs in to that computer.
Update the agent
- Click Salir in the menu on the icon next to the clock.
- Download the new version and use it to replace the file sitting in C:\Aquitto\.
- Open it again with a double click.
The pairing survives: you do not need a new code. Only a different computer needs one of its own.
To see which version is installed, open the menu on the icon next to the clock. The number is at the top, under the status.

If the pairing window never appears
Pair the computer from the command line. Open a command prompt in C:\Aquitto\ and type this, with your own code instead of ABC123.
aquitto-print-agent.exe -code ABC123
It saves the pairing and tells you how it went. Then open the agent with a double click, as usual.
If the agent shows green but nothing prints
Check which print queue that printer has assigned in Aquitto: it has to be a local queue on that computer, not a share such as \\PC3\Cocina. Windows will not pass raw ticket data through a share, so the job enters the queue, sits there as Error and never comes out.
If the printer prints from another program but not from Aquitto
Check that the same printer does not also have a PrintNode printer assigned to it. With both set, the ticket goes out through PrintNode and the agent never touches it.
